For Immediate Release:

Rock Hill, SC –
I am excited to announce my bid for re-election to the Rock Hill School Board, with intention to file on August 1st, 2018. I have had the honor and privilege to serve on the board for four years, and I am excited over the progress that has been made during my tenure but recognize that there are areas that we need to continue to improve. As the only school board member with children attending Rock Hill Schools I have a unique perspective and insight in the day to day operations and issues our students and parents face, and I truly feel that the need for parent representation on the board is critical. I am hoping and asking for your support in the upcoming November 6 election.
During my tenure I have advocated for student and parents’ rights, responded to countless phone calls and emails, met with hundreds of constituents, volunteered in our schools and spent countless hours fighting to improve our public education while being a good steward of the tax payers’ money. I truly believe that the Rock Hill public education system is vital to the success of our community.
I am originally from Sweden, and proudly became a US Citizen in 2006. I am married to David and we have three children; Leo (Northwestern High School), Chloe (Dutchman Creek Middle School) and Izzy (Mt Gallant Elementary.)
Rock Hill is a fantastic and wonderful place to raise children in, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to raise my family in such loving and dedicated community. I was excited and honored to receive the Come See Me Community Service Award this year for my work with children and youth in our wonderful community this spring.
In addition to serving on the school board I am currently the Legislative VP for the South Carolina PTA and the Membership VP for the Palmetto Council of the Boy Scouts of America. My community service work since moving to Rock Hill in 2003 has been centered around children and education, because I truly believe that the work we put into our youth today is key to our successful future. Positions held over the past 10 years include Board of Directors for Rock Hill Schools Educational Foundation; SIC Chair, PTA President, Treasurer, and Fundraising Chair at Mount Gallant Elementary; Chair of A Place for Hope Inc.; Board Chair of The Girls Home Inc.; Board Treasurer for the Junior Women’s Club; and Treasurer for Pack 78 Boy Scouts.
